CYCLING ORGANIZATIONS

Some of these are local; some are national.  The list is intended to be complete for local organizations -- please let us know if we have left anyone out.  Note that several of these organizations have good information regarding trails on their websites.

The organization is active in acquisition and development. Your membership in the Great Plains Trails Network helps further these goals.

The Nebraska Trails Council is a statewide organization of those interested in trails for hiking and cycling in Nebraska.

BIKE TRAILS

Glenn Williams has developed a wonderful website full of trails information relating to rail trails and other trails in the state.  It's so complete that there isn't much reason to go anyplace else.  There are also many trails in Iowa.

OTHER RELEVANT AND IRRELEVANT LINKS

Sheldon Brown's additions to the website of a Massachusetts cycle shop include many articles and resources related to cycling.  His glossary of cycling terms is wonderful for research or just to browse.

The Tour De France is the cycling event that everyone knows about.  Absolutely fascinating.  Check out the official website.  (You'll need to do some clicking to select the English language version.)

The Mountain Bike Review and Road Bike Review websites contain message boards and also lists of products that have been reviewed by other riders. There's some interesting stuff here if you care to do some web surfing.

There are a number of subscription message boards available through a single site.  Included are message boards on touring, tandems, frame building and more.

The annual Big Kolache rides benefit the Nebraska Transplant Team and help to publicize successful organ donations.  Organ donation is something that all should give some consideration to.  Recommended especially for cyclists that don't wear helmets.

Want to look at the scientific side of cycling?  Want to bore your friends?  Then check out Analytic Cycling.
